Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav alleged that exit polls want to create an impression that BJP is winning
08 MARCH: A few days before the results of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav made serious allegations against the Election Commission. Akhilesh said that Varanasi DM is carrying out transportation of EVMs without giving any information to local candidates. We need to be alert if EVMs are being transported like this. This is theft. We have to save our vote. We can go to court but before that I want to appeal to the people to save democracy.
BJP is scared because Samajwadi Party is winning Ayodhya. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh alleged that Election Commission officials were tampering with EVMs.
“This is the last battle for democracy. The exit polls want to create an impression that the BJP is winning. EVMs are being taken without informing the candidates,” he said.
Akhilesh’s allegations come a day after several exit polls predicted the Bharatiya Janata Party to secure a decisive majority in India’s most populous state, well ahead of Akhilesh’s Samajwadi Party. The Samajwadi Party chief has already dismissed exit polls, expressing confidence that his party and allies will form a government with over 300 seats.
Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly was held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7 and on March 10, the counting will take place.
