Chairman of the National Traders Welfare Board takes up trader’s issues of City with Administrator UT Chandigarh.
CHANDIGARH, 2 MARCH: Sh. Sunil J. Singhi, Chairman of the National Traders Welfare Board, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Sh. Charanjiv Singh, President, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal called on Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor Punjab cum Administrator U.T. Chandigarh. The delegation discussed various key issues affecting the trading community in Chandigarh and presented a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by traders. The main issues discussed are as below:
Implementation of OTS Scheme for Vat Assessment Cases on Punjab Pattern.
Making Commercial/Industrial Property Freehold on reasonable charges.
Permission of General Trade in the Upper Floors of Commercial Buildings without Conversion Charges.
Rationalization of Conversion/Extra Coverage Charges from SCF to SCO.
Roll Back of Penalty.
Expansion of Parking Facility in Markets.
Formation of Chandigarh Traders Welfare Board.
Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor Punjab cum Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh expressed commitment towards approval of One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) for pending assessment cases of Value Added Tax (VAT) by Chandigarh Administration very soon and to be forwarded later on to MHA for final approval and notification. He intimated that scheme for converting all lease hold commercial/industrial properties to freehold has already been sent to MHA, Govt. of India for final approval and we were advised to contact MHA, New Delhi. The meeting concluded with the Governor’s sympathetic response to the other demands put forth by the delegation,.
Sh. Diwakar Sahoonja Patron cum Official Spokes Person CBM said the announcement of the OTS very soon is anticipated to bring relief to many traders of Chandigarh and help in clearing the backlog of pending assessment cases, thereby promoting a more conducive environment for business growth in Chandigarh.
