CHANDIGARH, 25 FEBRUARY: The commemoration of the culmination of the GIRLS INDIA PROJECT, a collaborative effort of Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) and Education Department, U.T., Chandigarh witnessed the awarding of Girl India Ambassadors as pillars of change. The function was presided over by Hon’ble Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh.
The event started with a heart rendering performance by the girls of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh depicting the unscripted an unstoppable power of the girls.
On the occasion, 44 Girl India Ambassadors were braded amongst the 50 partner schools of Girls India Project. The brand ambassador of CCPCR for the year 2021-22 was honoured for her national recognition and declared student mentor for the year 2022. Master Chand from Snehalaya Child Care Institution (CCI) was branded in the Special Child Category for bringing awards at national and state level in Sports. Six Schools as buddies won the trophies for their outstanding performance in Mock Parliament i.e. Delhi Public School and GMSSS-38 West, Chandigarh, Guru Nanak Public School and GMSSS- Mauli Jagran, St. John’s High School and GMS- BPC, Chandigarh and excellent performance was also given by the Mock Parliamentarian.
Mentors who have contributed through-out the year have also been honoured for their services they are Ms. Reema Dewan, Ms. Monica Chawla, Dr. Vandana Aggarwal, Ms. Neena Singh, Ms. Simrit Luthra, Ms. Gurmeet Kaur, Sh. Kapil Mohan Sood and Sh. Ravinder Singh. Empowering Endeavours Journal on the journey of Girls India Project was also released by the Chief Guest. Exhibition display was the attraction on the journey of Empowerment of Girls. Arunima Sinha and Kalpana Chawala Group won the award for their creative display. The very idea behind the Weekly ‘Girls Parliaments’ online meetings on important issues of social media and cyber security, good education, exercise & health, mental health, food & nutrition, menstrual hygiene, teenage suicides, good touch-bad touch, whom to complaint in case of sexual abuse, child marriage and teenage pregnancy etc. has been such thoughtfully conceived and implemented, keeping in view the problem faced by the girls, a view to strengthen them, on the lines of the Governmental set up of our country- has become unique model of Empowerment in mass.
A beautiful presentation showcasing the journey of CCPCR was presented. With gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Chairperson CCPCR, Mrs Harjinder Kaur talked of the initiatives of the Commission and the future perspectives towards making Chandigarh a child friendly city.
Talking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Governor Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh talked on the importance of simplicity, honesty and perseverance as values to be imbibed by one and all to escalate India to a super power in the times to come.
The celebration of wonderful moments by the Commission has not only helped in creating awareness among the public about the issues of children but also gone a long way in making the children aware of their Rights and duties with the slogan LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND.
On this occasion, Ms. Pooja Punchhi, Dr. Monica M Singh, Sh. Sanjay Sharma, Sh. Varun Beniwal, Dr. Varinder Nagpal, Ms. Ravinder Kaur, Sh. Sanjay Tandon, Sh. Chanchal Singh were also present.
