Russia-Ukraine Crises: A cyber hacker group Anonymous has declared a “cyber war” against the administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin as it launched a full-scale invasion of Kiev amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The hacking collective aims to disable several Russian government websites, according to international media.

a Russian state-controlled international television network, RT.com, was also targeted by the gang.

According to sources, RT.com and several other websites were targeted in the widespread Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the hacker collective ‘Anonymous’, known for accessing foreign government accounts, on Thursday declared a “cyberwar” on Russia.

The group announced its move on social media, claiming to have taken down several Russian government websites.

A social media account representing the group wrote on Thursday that “Anonymous Collective is officially in a cyber war against the Russian government.”

“Anonymous Collective has taken down the RT News website of Russian propaganda channel,” it added, confirming the RT.com hack.

Meanwhile, Russian government websites, the Kremlin, the Duma and the Defense Ministry have all been hit by the hacker collective’s ‘cyber attack’.

Several users reported that gang-targeted websites slowed down and remained offline for long periods of time during the day on social media networks.

In a series of tweets, the group clarified that it was protesting Putin’s recent actions against Ukraine.
