CBM hold extensive meeting with U.T. Traffic Police on parking and traffic issues in the markets.
CHANDIGARH, 27 MAY: A comprehensive meeting was held today at Police Headquarter in Sector-9 by delegation of senior functionaries of CBM with Traffic Police Officials of U.T. Ms. Manisha Chaudhary, SSP Traffic, Sh. Jaswinder Singh DSP, Sh. Udaypal Singh DSP, Ms. Harjiit Kaur DSP, Ms. Gurjeet Kaur DSP to discuss smooth flow of traffic on roads around markets and improvement of parking facilities in the markets of city. A memorandum highlighting all main traffic related issues being faced by markets of Chandigarh was forwarded by Mr. Charanjiv Singh, President CBM and Mr. Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, General Secretary cum Chairman, Police Co-ordination Committee of CBM and below mentioned issues were taken up on the meeting:-
- Expansion of parking facilities either by way of multistory parking or community parking either at backside or vacant place nearby markets.
- Regular road marking and signage of parking, entry and exit in the markets.
- Deployment of Traffic Police on V-4 roads opposite markets during peak hours to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
- Evicting unauthorized vendors from parking areas of markets.
- Limiting parking by nearby Bhawans, Nursing Homes and other Institutes etc. to their respective buildings or any other nearby place away from markets.
- Disallowing beggars from light points and markets.
- To install timers on every light points in the city for the convenience of public and to avoid accidents. Duration of green light should be increased considering the flow of traffic.
- Increasing awareness of Police Helpline Numbers.

Purshotam Mahajan, Anil Vohra, Sr. Vice President, Subash Narang, Gen. Secy. Sanjiv Chadha, Advisors of CBM
namely Bhupinder Narad, Ravinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Rajan Mahajan, Finance Secy., Radhey Lal Bajaj, Vice
President, Pritpal Singh Sodhi, Secretaries Harjit Singh, Kirpal Dogra, Sanjay Puri and Ramesh Ahuja, who
elaborated issues of various markets as well the two hour long meeting discussed all issues and soon Traffic
Police Officials shall visit markets with acute problems like sectors 11,17,18,28,34 and 44 and try to resolve the
issues in co-operation with Market Associations.
