CHANDIGARH: To contain the spread of coronavirus, the Government of Punjab has imposed lockdown in the State from 7.00 PM to 5.00 AM on all days. The timing of opening of liquor vends has been fixed upto 6.30 PM in all the Municipal Cities of the State.
Acting tough on the violators, the Excise Department, Punjab has challaned 43 liquor vends in the State for not following the designated timelines.
Giving further details, the official spokesman said that 10 liquor vends in Jalandhar, 10 in Mohali, 6 in Amritsar, 5 in Ludhiana, 3 each in Hoshairpur and Gurdaspur, 2 each in SBS Nagar and Pathankot, 1 each in Patiala and Barnala have been challaned. The liquor licensees have been warned by the Department to follow the timelines fixed by the Government otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
