suggest increased parking facility in PGI
CHANDIGARH, 10 NOVEMBER: A Delegation of CBM and senior office bearers of MWA Sector 11-D held an extensive meeting with Ms. Anandita Mitra, Commissioner, M.C., Chandigarh over a proposed 100 Crore underground project as part of Master Plan suggestion of year 2013 which if built will have underground two level parking and a under pass way towards PGI from sector 10 and landscaped greenbelt walking area on top thus shrinking front space of market and House No.1 to 17 and also inconvenient approach to Shops.
The 5 members delegation was led by President Charanjiv Singh, President, CBM and Diwakar Sahoonja, President MWA, Sector 11-D who is Patron cum Official Spokes person, CBM as well along with Sanjeev Chadha, Gen. Secy., CBM looking after Municipal Corporation affairs and Senior Office Bearers of Market Welfare Association a registered Welfare Body namely Ajay Bansal, Vice President and Jagdish Sethi, Gen. Secy. called on office of Madam Anandita Mitra, Municipal Commissioner, M.C., Chandigarh, U.T. to register their concern about a 6 year old proposal in master city plan for developing underground passage as well as parking for the market in that very area.
Charanjiv Singh, CBM, President said creating green area on top and shifting the parking of market to underground shall not only make delayed and difficult approach to shops and laboratories but so called landscaped top will also invite encroachers and misused place for vendors.
Diwakar Sahoonja, Patron, CBM took up issue of huge investments in machinery and stocks by traders feeding urgent medical needs of the region which will go unfunctional during development phase with likely loss to public as well.
Ajay Bansal suggested increase of parking facilities in PGI as majority parking in market are by visitors to Hospital.
Jagdish Sethi, Gen. Secy. said an abandoned site of Food Sample Laboratory can be developed into Multilevel Parking
Sanjeev Chadha, Gen. Secy. CBM assured better road marking and parking facility and cleanliness keep up by the market for visitors in future.
Ms. Anandita Mitra, M.C., Commissioner assured the delegation to give due consideration to huge loss of stakeholders before any such project and shall support any improvement efforts by association towards cleanliness and better parking in market.
