Bappi Lahiri Death: Bappi Lahiri, a Bollywood disco artist, died at a Mumbai hospital on Tuesday night, February 15, after suffering a respiratory ailment related to sleep. He was 69 years old. Bappi Lahiri was admitted to Juhu’s Criticare Hospital, where he breathed at 11:45 p.m. Bappi Lahiri’s funeral will be tomorrow, Thursday, after the arrival of his son, Bappa Lahiri from the USA.
The hospital also released an official statement, confirming Lahiri’s death and saying he was suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and recurrent chest infection. “He was treated by Dr Deepak Namjoshi. He was hospitalized at Juhu’s Criticare Hospital. He recovered and was discharged on February 15. However, after a day at home, his health deteriorated and he was taken back to Criticare Hospital in a critical condition and died of his illness at about 11:45 pm. For the last 1 year, he had OSA. He was admitted several times to Criticare Hospital treated by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi and recovered on a regular basis, ”the statement read.
Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn and filmmakers Hansal Mehta and Ashoke Pandit were among the first celebrities to express their grief over the passing of a veteran composer on social media. Pandit said he was “shocked” to hear of the death of “rockstar” Lahiri. While Mehta, who had the opportunity to work with Lahiri in the ad, wrote, “Another legend is gone.” Devgn wrote on Twitter, “Bappi Da was very popular in person. But his music was also powerful. ”
Last year, Lahiri was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after the veteran was diagnosed with “mild COVID symptoms.” The singer was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital as a “precautionary measure”.
Bappi Lahiri was known for bringing popular songs to few films in the late 1970-80s such as Chalte Chalte, Disco Dancer, and Sharaabi. His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was from the 2020 film Baaghi 3.
Bappi Lahiri has been in charge of the music industry for several years and has performed hot songs such as I am a Disco Dancer, Raat Baaki, Pag Ghoongroo, Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Taaki Taaki, Naino Main Sapna, Humko Aaj Kal Hain Intezaar, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Tamma Tamma, Yaad Aa Raha Hai, among many others.
Bappi Lahiri last appeared at Bigg Boss 15, where he came to promote the launch of his grandson Swastik’s new song, Baccha Party.
