All Teaching and non-teaching staff of private-government aided colleges hold first day protest at DAV College
CHANDIGARH, 2 FEB: Teaching and non teaching-staff of privately managed government aided colleges of Chandigarh today held the first day dharna of their indefinite protest starting from today at DAV College, Chandigarh against the Chandigarh Administration due to the delay in the direct implementation of the U.G.C. regulations as per MHA notification dated 29th March 2022, all the benefits and allowances on par with government colleges, like Medical allowance, LTC as per central pattern and grant of revised pay scales to non-teaching staff. The representatives raised their voice against the non-implementation of 6th pay commission for the non-teaching staff working in the government aided colleges. More than 400 teachers, 200 students from Chandigarh colleges participated in the first day of the protest at DAV College. The senators of Panjab University also participated in dharna and supported the demands of the teaching and non-teaching staff. They all took out a protest rally outside the college to showcase their resentment. Dr. Sumit Goklaney, President, DAVCTU, said that they will continue with their series of protests, starting from today, till the administration does not accept their demands. He also added that they will intensify their protest in near future if the administration failed to acknowledge their most genuine and legitimate demands. The joint action committee also warned that such dharnas are just the beginning of the protest. Members of JAC said that if their issues are not sorted out then they will be forced to launch a huge protest against the administration. The protesting teaching and non-teaching staff will sit on dharna at MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, Chandigarh, on second day of protest on 2nd February as per the schedule.
