CHANDIGARH, 4 JUNE: To celebrate the festival of Lok Sabha Polls in India, Association of Senior Library and Information Professionals (ASLIP), Regd. organised contest entitled “Season of Votes, Reasons of Selfie”. A creative idea of Dr. R. P. Kumar, President ASLIP, this was an attempt to keep with “चुनाव का पर्व, देश का गर्व”. The purpose behind the contest was also to motivate the library professionals to fulfill their duty towards the nation with joy and prise.
The contest received a good response which required the contestants to post their selfie with their inked finger. ASLIP executive decided to select and reward the best four selfies and three lucky names through draw of lots. The event of draw of lots was organised by Dr. Deepti Madaan, librarian DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh on June 3, 2024 under the supervision of Dr. Raj Kumar, Secretary ASLIP and in the presence of progressive members of ASLIP namely Dr. Neeza Singh, librarian, T.S. Central State Library, Mrs. Anju Mohan, librarian, Bhavan Vidyalaya School, Ms. Pooja Saraf, asstt librarian DAV College. Mr. Shelinder Sharma, assistant librarian, DAV College was also present during the event. The names of lucky contestants were Mrs. Suman Singh, Prayagraj, Mr. Uttam Chatterjee, Kanpur and Mrs. Paramjeet Kharal, Gurugram.
It was a matter of pride for ASLIP for perhaps being the only library associations which organised such contest and became a part of festival of democracy at the national level.
