CHANDIGARH, 12 OCTOBER: A delegation of Police Co-ordination Committee of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today called on Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur SSP Law & Order to demand enhanced security in Markets during forthcoming festival season.
Charanjiv Singh, President, CBM said as festival season is coming near and rush of shoppers will increase in Markets. Auspicious Navratra’s are starting from 15th October, 2023 and Karva Chouth, Dussehra and Diwali are approaching soon. So, enhanced security is required in and around Markets.
Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, General Secretary cum Chairman, Police Co-ordination Committee CBM cautioned the police official against antisocial elements who try to mingle in festivities and try to commit crimes such as pick pocketing, snatching, looting and thefts etc. So there is need to strengthen beat staff to foil all such attempts of crime in the crowded markets.
Anil Vohra, Patron, CBM suggested increased night patrolling by Police in the markets to avoid any incidence of thefts as more stocks are stored in the shops during shopping festivals. He also requested the SSP to give proper representation to the traders by including Presidents of each market in the Samavesh Committees of all the concerned Police Station.
Delegation also called on Ms. Manisha Chaudhary, SSP Traffic and demanded extra traffic regulating arrangements in and around markets during incoming festival days. Baljinder Gujral, General Secretary, CBM and President, Kesho Ram Complex Welfare Association, Burail, Sector 45, requested the SSP Traffic to give relaxation in traffic challans during incoming festival days since there is no authorized parking space outside the Market of Burail where as Customers throng the market from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh for their wholesale buying of goods from sector 45 market. Such shoppers now a day’s avoid visiting this important wholesale market fearing frequent challans by Traffic Police.
Pritpal Singh Sodhi, Advisor, CBM said that extra parking space in the nearby Schools, Open Grounds, Community Centers should be provided for incoming festival season as more customers visit markets during these days especially near Diwali festival .
