General Body Meeting of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal: Discussion on many issues related to traders of the city

CHANDIGARH, 21 AUGUST: A General Body Meeting of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal held yesterday at Kala Gram, Manimajra where 183 members who are Office Bearers of different Market Associations participated. Sunil Mehra, Member National Traders Welfare Board was the Chief Guest and Anup Gupta was Guest of Honor.   

Charanjiv Singh, President, CBM while extending welcome to all members present said that as per assurance given by Banwari Lal Purohit, Administrator in recently held Advisory Council Meeting, OTS Scheme for Assessment of old case on Punjab pattern and Conversion Scheme of leasehold property to freehold will be implemented soon in the City. He also said that increase of height of Booths in Sector-23 from 7’ to 11’ and space for Sign Boards for upper floor of SCO’s have been approved for all Markets.      

Sunil Mehra from Ludhiana Member National Traders Welfare Board said that all traders issues connected with Govt. of India will be resolved through newly Constituted Board.  Ram Karan Gupta, Chairman, GST, CBM said that purchaser who have received the goods and made the payment to suppliers should be given input credit and seller if have not paid GST by not filing return or making fake bills should be held responsible. 

Sanjeev Chadha, Chairman, MC Committee, CBM said excessive door to door collection charges charged in few cases will be rationalized soon in MC next House meeting. He also said that Vendor Zones should be made outside markets as markets are already congested and parking problem is increasing day by day. 

Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, Chairman, Police Committee, CBM said we have attended M-Passport launch and Anti Drug Day functions organized by Chandigarh Police. He assured help and assistance to all Market Associations in case any issue arises regarding Police Department. Darpan Kapoor, Chairman, Business Promotion Committee, CBM said that in the new era, traders should adopt online method of selling their products to increase their sales.

Sunder Singh from Sector-41 Market said that we should prevail upon Chandigarh Administration to come out with a conversion scheme of leasehold to freehold for conversional property. Vijay Jain from Sector-15 said that we should pursue the Chandigarh Administration to ban begging from the city by adopting Bombay Begging Act in the city.

Manoj Bajaj from Sector-23 said that wine shops are nuisance in the Markets and it should be opened outside Markets. Mohit Sood from Sector-26 said that Grain Market cleanliness is very bad, roads are broken. So issue should be taken up with concerned authorities.

Varinder Gupta thanked the President for taking up issue of reversal of excessive door to door collection charges in the Grain and Timber Market. Anil Vohra, Patron, CBM requested the members to register their shops under the Punjab Commercial Establishment Act as it is one time for whole life. It is without any penalty even if doing after gap of 8-10 years. He also insisted on the need of trader unity at all cost to uphold the image of Beopar Mandal and to resolve the Trader’s issues. Baljinder Gujral, General Secretary, Admin., CBM conducted the meeting in a orderly, timely and efficient manner.
