CHANDIGARH, 27 JULY: A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal consisting of Charanjiv Singh, Anil Vohra, Ravinder Singh, Pritpal Singh Sodhi, Harjit Singh, Sanjiv Grover called on Sh. Naveen Sharma, Assistant Labor Commissioner and submitted a memorandum requesting him to extend a last date of registration of Shops from 31/07/2023 to 31/12/2023.
Delegation members said although majority of traders in the city are registering themselves under Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 as applicable to Chandigarh but still large members of them are still to do the same. As last date of 31/07/2023 is almost approaching and traders are busy in filing GST and Income Tax Returns for which last date is also same i.e.31/07/2023.
Even those traders who are required to get their account audited from Chartered Accountant have to file their return up by 30/09/2023. So it is requested that last date may be extended up to 31/12/2023 so that Shopkeepers may avail the registration under Act with ease.
Naveen Sharma, ALC was kind enough to accept our demand and assured us to do the same and send the file to Deputy Commissioner for final approval, He said that although we will extend the date but he appeals to the traders though CBM Office Bearers to get themselves registered at the earliest as it is a onetime registration and is a valid proof of existence of Shop in the City. He also assured to respond and send certificate of registration within one day after such registrations. He also said that no further extension will be given.
