25 OCTOBER: Popular instant messaging platform Meta-owned WhatsApp is down in many parts of the world, including India. Some users have reported that they are unable to send, receive or access their WhatsApp account.
According to Downdetector, a website that monitors down times and outages, user reports indicate that WhatsApp has been experiencing problems since 3:17 a.m. EDT (12:47 p.m.). Also, around 28,413 users in India reported the issue on the website around 12:30 pm. 69% of people reported problems with sending messages, 7% reported Application problems and 24% reported server connection problems.
Meta has now officially acknowledged the issue. Meta spokesperson said, “We are aware that some people are facing issue in sending messages today, and we are working to get WhatsApp back up and running as quickly as possible.”
According to Reuters, users in Asia, UK, South Africa and Europe are reporting problems sending and receiving text and video messages on WhatsApp.
