CHANDIGARH, 15 SEPTEMBER: “Sunrise’’ Team from Roop Automotive Ltd was declared the winner in the 35th QC Circle competition Himachal Pradesh preliminary 2022-23 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry in Baddi. The ‘First Runner-up Trophy’ was won jointly by “Prayas” team from Luminous Power Technologies Pvt and “Sapne’’ team from Secure Meters Limited, 2nd runner up trophy was also won jointly by the “WoW’’ team from Havells India Limited, and “EKJUT-Towards the target’’ team from Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. These teams will now participate in the Regional level Competition. “Vijeta’’ team from Rockman Industries Limited was adjudged as Consolation Prize Winner, and “Lecrob Learners’’ team from Lecorb India Pvt Ltd as the best debut.
“It is truly encouraging and enthralling to see so many companies demonstrating their knowledge on the concept of quality, ensuring their concerted efforts to improve quality and productivity in the industry”, said Dr U P Singh, Director, Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt of India, while speaking at the Competition. He shared with the audience that CII has been spreading the message of promoting quality and creating the need for Total Quality Management. The quality circles are vital TQM tools. They play a very important role in involving a wide cross-section of employees in an organization for improving quality through participation and motivating workers to exchange ideas, and views and share experiences on quality circles and various approaches to problem-solving. He congratulated all the participants for the commendable preparation and presentation.
In all, 20 Quality Circles made presentations on the specific projects handled by them at their workplace. The assessment of the presentation was made on a weighted scale covering different aspects of the Quality Circle activity. The evaluation was based on factors like problem selection, analysis, solution, presentation, etc. The judging panel for the competitions included illustrious names like Prof P Thareja, Ph.D, CSSBB, CE (I), FIE (I), FIIF, Ex Principal Prog Coordinator (TQEM) & Head Met Engg, Pb Engg Co, Chandigarh, Mr J P S Sibia, Management Consultant, and Mr Raja Gopal, Senior Counsellor, OTIFAS.
The Competition was attended by over 150 participants comprising of Workmen; Quality and HR heads from Industry.
