CHANDIGARH, 20 JUNE: A comprehensive meeting on trader’s issues was held today at Municipal Corporation Conference Hall, Sector-17 by delegation of senior functionaries of CBM with Ms. Sarabjit Kaur, Mayor, Sh. Anoop Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Ms. Anandita Mitra, Sh. Rupesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner and Sh. Rohit Gupta, Joint Commissioner to discuss problems faced by various markets of the city like unauthorized vendors, Signage and Shop Boards for Upper Floors, Highhandedness of Enforcement Staff, inadequate parking in the markets of city, up-gradation, Cleanliness and Renovation of Toilets in Markets, Practical Methods of fire safety and waiver off Rs.10/- per day penalty on transfer of property in MC records. A memorandum highlighting issues being faced by markets of Chandigarh was presented to the Mayor and Commissioner. Delegation of CBM consisting of Charanjiv Singh, Sanjeev Chadha, Diwaker Sahoonja, Naresh Mahajan, Radhey Lal, Anand Syal, Pritpal Singh Sodhi, Mohit Sood and Sanjeev Grover. Below mentioned issues were taken up in the meeting:-
Charanjjiv Singh, President, CBM took up issue of beautification and up-gradation of markets and permitting signboards for upper floors of showrooms in the markets. He also pleaded for waiver off Rs.10/- per day penalty on late transfer of property in MC records. Sanjeev Chadha, Gen. Secy. cum Chairman, M.C. Coordination demanded removal of venders from markets and shifting them to the Vendor Zones and allowing reasonable space for keeping of products within pillars by shopkeepers. Diwakar Sahoonja, Patron, CBM expressed resentment of shopkeepers of Sector-11 Market who are majority in Essential services pharmacy and diagnostic centers who shall adversely affected of proposed big constructions underground parking is developed in the market.
