Harjot Singh, an IT specialist, said after regaining consciousness, “Since I have got a new life, I want to start afresh and want to spend time with my family.” He was in Ukraine for higher studies.

On February 27, 31-year-old Singh, who hails from Delhi’s Chhatarpur area, and two of his friends were trying to escape from Kyiv to Lviv city, but failed to do so. They resorted to a cab to return to their homes when panic spread and he was injured several times.
Harjot Singh said that “After hitting by the first bullet, I saw my left leg turning into a J-shaped structure, I fell on the road. Another bullet hit my chest and right hand. I lay on the road, injured, for hours, until an ambulance arrived and took me to the hospital. I opened my eyes after four days in the hospital, on Wednesday,”.

Under Operation Ganga, 15,900 Indians have been brought back from Ukraine through neighboring countries including Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Moldova and Poland.
