ABG Shipyard Scam: India’s biggest banking scam! 28 banks dubed 22,842 crores, know how?

NEW DELHI: CBI has filed a lawsuit against ABG Shipyard Limited and its Chairman and Managing Director Rishi Kamlesh Aggarwal and other unknown private servants and individuals in a major bank fraud scandal in the country. A lawsuit was filed in connection with the alleged fraud of more than Rs 22,842 crore from a central bank led by the State Bank of India, officials said on Saturday. This is a major bank fraud case registered by the CBI.

According to the FIR registered by the CBI, the intention is for the company to take a loan from 28 banks, not to invest or use that company, but to divert that money from another company to a borrowed company. He showed it and took advantage of it and committed fraud in those 28 banks. The CBI suspects that many government employees, officials and bankers also have a suspicious role to play in the release of this loan. After committing fraud, the company and its many directors have been charged with making and buying multiple properties in multiple locations, the CBI team will investigate in detail.

The CBI took action after a lengthy investigation

In addition to Aggarwal, the CBI also booked the executive director Santhanam Muthaswamy, directors – Ashwini Kumar, Sushil Kumar Aggarwal and Ravi Vimal Nevetia and another company, ABG International Pvt Ltd, on suspicion of conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust and legal abuse.

CBI demanded clarification, could not respond

He said the men were placed under the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The banking union filed a complaint on 8 November 2019, during which the CBI sought certain explanations on March 12, 2020. A new complaint was filed in August of that year and after more than a year and half of investigation, the CBI worked on it. A loan of Rs. 2468.51 crore was approved to the company by the SBI and 28 banks and financial institutions, the official said. He said an investigation revealed that between 2012-17, the suspects allegedly conspired to commit illegal acts, including money laundering and criminal misconduct.

The raid was carried out by the CBI in 13 areas, Mumbai, Pune, Bharuch and Surat. The attack took place at the company’s directors’ office, including several private individuals. Several important documents, electronic devices, cell phones, bank computers and more were seized during the raid. In this case, notices will soon be sent by the CBI to several suspects for investigation, after which they will be summoned to the CBI headquarters in Delhi for further investigation.
