Teachers’ hunger strike continues in DAV College: Congress government of Punjab should take lessons from the results of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections- Teachers

CHANDIGARH: The chain hunger strike of College and University teachers who are on a complete work shut down against Punjab Govt’s failure to implement 7th CPC and revoke delinking of their payscales from UGC in the state has entered its 22nd day today. Students and their parents also joined the protests today. The teachers are agitating throughout the state for being denied the benefits of revised payscales that should have been given to them since January 2016. Sumit Goklaney, President DAVCTU, said that the rout of the ruling Congress party in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections today due to their anti-people policies should be a wake-up call for them when Assembly Elections are due. Teachers have decided to bring their families to the protest being held for the last 5 months at DAV College Chandigarh.

The chain hunger strike being continued under the aegis of PFUCTO and PCCTU was joined today by Dr. Arti Arya, Dr. Minakshi Bhardwaj & Dr. Suman Dhull (all from DAV College Chandigarh) (9 am – 5 pm), and Dr. Jyotirmay Khatri, Prof. Bibek Bhuyan (both from DAV College Chandigarh) & Prof. Devi Singh (GGDSD College, Chandigarh) (5 pm today – 9 am tomorrow).
