EXECUTIVE body of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal approved 11 new membership applications from different markets
CHANDIGARH: Executive body Meeting of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) held today at Hotel Park Grand Sector-43. CBM President Sh. Charanjiv Singh in his welcome address in the packed hall of prominent trader activists of Chandigarh who are either office bearers or executive body members of CBM narrated the activities of last 6 months. The trader issues in the period had been the successful agitation by traders to get the markets opened including those dealing in non essential items during lockdown. He lauded the roll of different Market Welfare Associations in supporting anti Covid measures and vaccination campaigns for shopkeepers by the Govt.
Sh. Charanjiv Singh the President, CBM also appealed to the Market Associations to take over management of parking lots for the benefit of traders and customers. Organized parking will bring more customers to the markets.
Sh. Sanjeev Chadha, Gen Secy., CBM who looks after coordination with corporation took up the issues related to parking management being given to MWA of 16 markets of the city. On his referendum, majority market associations said nominal fee is must to smoothly run the parking in sector markets. He also echoed need to make provision of on the spot E-payment for any encroachments by traders without lifting the goods to save time and inconvenience.
Sh. Ram Karan Gupta, Chairman, Excise and Taxation Coordination Committee demanded implementation of OTS scheme of pending assessment cases on Punjab pattern.
Sh. Ravinder Singh Billa who heads Labour Cell Coordination Committee explained about new labour laws and various labour welfare schemes announced by the Govt.
Sh. Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, Gen. Secy., CBM who also heads Police Coordination Committee shared outcome of various meetings with Police officials and issues sorted out by the Committee.
Sh. DIwakar Sahoonja former President currently Patron cum Chief Spokesperson suggested CBM to evolve some kind of E-PLATFORM or E-PORTAL with free listing and nominal technical charges from some technical firm to assist conventional retailers of city to be high-tech and to match. the competition of large online corporate to cater to city consumers and that of nearby region by doing online trading and sale promotion. He also termed the CBM being sole invitee during celebration of 161st income tax day by the Income tax department as proud moment for CBM.
Sh. Anil Vohra, requested the members to post only market or trade related message in the official whatsapp group. He was also in favor of running of parking by the Market Association on nominal charges.
Sh. Mahesh Budhiraja strongly advocated the need to notify apartment act in city for the benefit of small and medium traders and liquidation of property by the heirs. Issue was supported by most of the members.
